American Democracy's Aspiration

Timothy reminds us that America's notion of exceptionalism is a conceit that we've always been a democracy, but we haven't meaningfully been one. Democracy has to be an activity, and we need to act in a way that we might get better outcomes. The advantage of Americans is that we can learn from watching what happened over there from a distance, hopefully.
