Stopping the Looting Trade
Roger Atwood explains that repatriation of looted artifacts is not enough to preserve historical knowledge. The focus should be on controlling the looting trade at the source and combating the demand for these pieces through law, policy, and ethical codes. International law has been in place since 1970 to combat this trade and the United States has signed bilateral agreements with affected countries to stop the trade in illicit antiquities.In this clip
