Renee DiResta explains how Russian trolls use social media to find people who are ideologically aligned with their agenda and turn them into unwitting useful idiots. They do this by creating fake personas and direct messaging activists, hiring people to impersonate political figures, and paying self-defense teachers to teach the black community how to defend themselves at protests.
